The late actor-filmmaker Rob Reiner has been honoured for his final television work, securing the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series award for The Bear at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

Nine months after his death, Reiner was honoured with the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series award at Night 2 of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

He prevailed over Michael J. Fox and Brett Goldstein for Shrinking, Hamish Linklater for Widow’s Bay, Christopher McDonald for Hacks and Connor Storrie for Saturday Night Live.

The award marks the first posthumous Emmy for an on-camera performance since Raúl Juliá won for The Burning Season in 1995.

Reiner was killed alongside his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, in December last year. His Emmy was accepted on his behalf by presenter Wendi McLendon-Covey following a minute-long standing ovation from the audience.
