Huma Qureshi's Bayaan Set for IFFM Screening

Directed by Bikas Ranjan, Bayaan follows the story of Roohi, a determined police officer who finds herself investigating her first major case involving a powerful cult leader accused of sexual abuse. As the investigation unfolds, the film delves into themes of power, truth, justice, and the personal cost of standing up against influential forces.
Speaking about the project, Huma Qureshi expressed her excitement over the film's selection for the prestigious festival.
“Roohi is a woman who stands her ground in the face of immense pressure, and portraying her journey pushed me as an actor in many ways. What drew me to the film was not just the gripping investigation, but the questions it raises about power, truth and justice,” she said.
The actor added that she is honoured to have Bayaan screened at a festival known for celebrating impactful storytelling.
“Bayaan will be screened at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, a festival that has consistently celebrated bold and meaningful cinema. I would want the audiences to connect with the film, engage with the conversations, and leave the theatre with something to reflect on after the credits roll,” she added.
Alongside Huma Qureshi, the film features Chandrachur Singh and Sachin Khedekar in pivotal roles.
The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2026 will take place in Australia from August 13 to August 23, bringing together a diverse selection of Indian films and talent for audiences across the globe.
